Talker guide

Someone to vent to

Sometimes you do not want solutions. You want to say the whole thing, out loud, to someone who will not interrupt, judge or turn it into a debate. A Sweet Listeners session gives you 15 minutes to vent to a verified adult.

18+ · remote · not therapy

Venting to the same friend over and over can feel like you are using them up. Venting online to an anonymous room can get you replies you did not ask for. A paid session is different: the listener has agreed to hear you out for a set time, and that is the whole job.

Vent first, decide later

Tell the listener up front if you just want to rant, or if you would like a question or two at the end. Many people start by venting and then, once the pressure is off, find they want to talk through what to do next. Either is fine.

Pick the format that matches how you feel. Chat is good when you want to type fast without being heard. Voice lets you say it out loud. Video feels most like sitting across from someone.

What venting here is — and is not

It is a private, timed conversation with a real person. It is not a support group, a crisis line or therapy, and listeners do not diagnose anything. If you are venting about something that puts you or someone else in danger, please use 988 or emergency services instead.

Things people vent about

  • A boss, coworker or a brutal week at work
  • A partner, ex or family member who drives you up the wall
  • Money stress and bills that will not stop
  • Traffic, neighbors, roommates and everyday annoyances
  • Feeling unappreciated at home
  • A conversation you keep replaying in your head
Sweet Listeners is conversation, not therapy. Sweet Listeners is not a crisis line. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (US) or contact local emergency services.

FAQ: venting to a listener

Can I just vent without getting advice?
Yes. Tell your listener at the start that you only want to vent. Their job is to listen for the session you booked.
Can I vent anonymously?
You need an account to book and pay, but you choose what you share in the session. Chat lets you vent without using your voice or camera. Sessions are private between you and your listener.
How much does a session cost?
Each session is 15 minutes: chat (text) is $10, voice is $20 and video is $30. You pick the format before you start. There is no subscription.
Is there a vent app or chat I can use right now?
If a listener shows they are available, you can talk now by chat, voice or video. Otherwise you can book a time. Availability depends on who is online.
Is this therapy?
No. Sweet Listeners is paid conversation with a verified adult. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care or a crisis service. If you need clinical care, a licensed professional is the right choice.
