Talker guide

Someone to talk to about work

A toxic boss. Burnout that will not lift. A layoff email. A career change you keep putting off. Work takes up most of our waking hours, and it is hard to talk about honestly with the people you work with. A verified listener is outside all of it.

18+ · remote · not therapy

You can vent about the week, talk through whether to quit, rehearse asking for a raise, or practice for an interview. Listeners come from many walks of life and choose “work or career” as a conversation type when they are glad to talk about it.

Burnout and toxic workplaces

Nurses, teachers, first responders, service workers, founders — burnout shows up everywhere. Fifteen minutes to say what is really going on, without worrying about who will hear, can be a relief.

Laid off, job hunting or changing careers

Losing a job shakes your routine and your sense of who you are. Job searching brings rejection after rejection. A listener can be a steady voice while you figure out the next move, or a sounding board for a business idea.

Retirement and what comes after

Retirement is a big life change. Some people love it; others feel bored, lonely or unsure who they are without the job. It is a good thing to talk about.
